The Life & Legacy of Stanley

Today we gather to celebrate the life of Stanley Gerald Gross, affectionately known by many as “Stan the Man.” Stanley was born on February 6, 1961, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Mattie B. Gross and the late John L. Gross.

Stanley was the third of eight children. Growing up, he discovered a lifelong passion for working with his hands while learning alongside his father. Whether it was home improvement projects or repairing automobiles, Stanley possessed a natural gift for fixing just about anything. These talents earned him his famous nickname and inspired his business, "Stan the Handyman." He truly was a master of many trades. Whenever family, friends, and neighbors called on him, he always answered, ever willing to extend a helping hand.

Stan had a true zest for life. He loved music, enjoyed good food, lived life to the fullest, and cherished every moment spent with those he loved. Stanley shared a special bond with his first love, Nisi Howard, and together they welcomed their beloved son, Damalle Sanjay Hambrick. Within his inner circle, Stanley was affectionately called “Ghost” by Damalle, his grandson Jaylen, and Nisi’s other son Leander and his children. He was loved unconditionally and will be deeply missed.

On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Stanley was called home and entered into eternal rest.
