William “Billy” Blue Jr., born May 18, 1965, in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away after bravely facing significant health challenges, including a double lung transplant, and ultimately complications related to it. He was 60 years old.
Billy was the beloved son of Leonicia and William Blue. He grew up in Cleveland Heights, attending Wiley Jr. High and graduating from the Cleveland Heights school system. At an early age, Billy accepted Christ, a foundation that shaped his character, his compassion, and the humble heart for which he was so well known.
In 1989, Billy married his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life, Danita Blue, marking the beginning of a beautiful 36-year union. Together, they built a family grounded in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Billy was a dedicated husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle who always prioritized spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.
Billy had a remarkable gift for bringing joy to others. With a great sense of humor and a love for making people laugh, he lifted the spirits of everyone around him. He was a talented DJ known as DJ Billy Blue, and his passion for music shone brightly throughout his life. With the early support of Terry Macklin and many others, he shared his talent at family parties, celebrations, and community events—moments he truly cherished.
Over the years, Billy worked diligently in several positions, including at Penske and the Cleveland Clinic’s Environmental Services Department. Outside of work, he enjoyed drawing, bowling, dancing, and collecting nice shoes, watches, and classic cars. He especially loved holidays like Thanksgiving, when the family gathered—times that filled his heart with happiness.
Billy was preceded in death by his brother, Jamal Blue. He leaves to honor and cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Danita Blue; his three children, Desiree, William, and Jameel (Brittney); his siblings Leonicia, Heather (Dale), and Antonio (Tonya); five grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends who loved him deeply.
Billy’s warmth, humor, and gentle spirit will be remembered forever by all who were blessed to know him.
